The Analyst of Customer Strategy position reporting to the Manager of Customer Strategy will support and work across the entire AES Clean Energy Commercial business led by the Chief Commercial Officer. This role is focused on supporting pivotal customer initiatives such as customer segmentation, customer events & planning, identifying new strategies and tactics to improve customer reach, go-to-market plans for key commercial customers, as well as internal approvals, and reporting of important metrics to senior leadership. This position is integral to the development of renewable assets, and energy storage to meet our customers’ needs for sustainability and carbon-free goals
Interacting with both the entire commercial team and other SBUs, this role will work closely with groups such as origination, key accounts, structured trading & analytics, global & clean energy marketing / communications, market strategy, and more. The position will enjoy extensive opportunities to learn multiple facets of commercial renewable business in a variety of North American markets, as well as gain renewable energy market knowledge, thought-leadership engagement, and presentation experience.
Main Responsibilities
- Retrieve and gather large volumes of data, interpret/analyze results, organize and develop statistical reports, and formulate into business insights for executive business decisions
- Manage and participate in event planning initiatives to increase new customer opportunities; coordinate logistics and develop an efficient communication process for internal/external participation
- Identify new memberships and third-party organizations to expand our commercial reach; act as commercial AES lead
- Provide/conduct industry, company, and competitive analyses, primary and secondary research, and identify new reporting avenues
- Deliver transactional support for marketing and origination activity vital to facilitate the sourcing, negotiation, and execution of long-term power sale agreements to support the company’s continued growth as a renewable leader in the United States
- Coordinate with internal teams to deliver required results for internal critical metrics and KPIs, including internal and external memos and presentations
- Prepare proposals, charts, graphs, and other presentation materials for both internal leadership and customers for bilateral negotiations and customer engagement
- Perform customer segmentation, customer strategy, and go-to-market planning to power decisions, gain a competitive advantage, and win new customers
- Keep abreast of renewable energy opportunities and national trends impacting the future of renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, Economics, Business or equivalent
- 1-3 years (inclusive of internship experience)
- Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amount of data with attention to detail and accuracy
- Think strategically on connecting customer / industry information to new opportunities
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and third-party relationships
- Experience and a passionate curiosity about US energy & renewables markets
- Solid commercial mentality & agility to balance customer and business needs
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail
- Strong written, communication, organization, and time management skills
- Solid Microsoft Office 365 knowledge including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, SharePoint, etc.
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM
- Knowledge of industry reports (BNEF, S&P, Wood Mackenzie, etc.)

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
