Overview

Independent Publishers Group seeks an exceptionally detail oriented and analytical Data Associate to join its Data team. This is an entry-level, full-time position that supports all aspects of the Data department.

The IPG Data department is our central hub for title metadata. They are responsible for the intake and maintenance of our distributed print list, evaluating incoming metadata against industry best-practice guidelines, and working with client publishers, trading partners, and subject matter experts within our organization to optimize the health and visibility of titles across the supply chain.

This associate will be a valuable addition to a very fast-paced and dynamic team and will also be working in larger, multi-team settings on ongoing improvements and new business initiatives.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assists in the review & intake of metadata submitted by client publishers, with a strong focus on ONIX submissions from client-publishers.
  • Provides clear & timely alerts detailing critical errors in metadata submissions that require reconciliation.
  • Conducts ongoing analysis of metadata with the goal of meeting publishing industry best-practice guidelines.
  • Reviews and improves alternate-format and related-format product groupings across incoming submissions.
  • Provides a range of image support services for our print list. This may include handling release of images to market, review & reconciliation of problematic images, aiding clients with image visibility and other support issues, and aiding all partners with requests for image re-delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to multi-task and to work within a ticketing system.
  • Analytical mindset with an interest in creating and executing ongoing audit processes.
  • Ability to adapt to ongoing improvement of processes and to be undaunted by change.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Strong experience with Excel and common Office software.
  • Familiarity with book industry, bibliographic metadata, BISAC standards, and ONIX is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with Crystal Reports, Photoshop or other image-editing software is a plus.
  • Physical abilities: Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time in an office or home-office environment.
  • No travel requirements.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32,400.00 – $36,000.00 per year

Schedule:
