Core Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Ensure the farm is thriving and beautiful at all times. Attention to detail is a must.
  • Seed, transplant, cultivate, weed, thin, and harvest vegetables, fruits, edible flowers, and herbs according to the planting and harvesting schedules
  • Regularly monitor crops and identify weeds, pests, diseases, and harmful insects
  • Apply natural fertilizers, pesticides, and amendments when necessary to ensure a healthy farm and enhance growth
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of the weekly planting and harvest schedules
  • Regularly organize and maintain farm equipment
  • Understand the Grange irrigation system and oversee repairs when needed
  • Water plants and seeds as needed
  • Clean, pack, and load harvested products and deliver them to the kitchen on time
  • Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, pruning hooks, and shears, and teach other farm staff how to properly and safely use and care for each tool
  • Construct trellises and plant supports
  • Transport compost materials from the kitchen and Grange to our compost piles
  • Operate and maintain farm vehicles and agricultural equipment and help clean and repair them as needed
  • Record information about crops such as yields, planting schedules, pesticide use, and harvest timelines
  • Load seeds, starts, amendments, and other agricultural products into trucks, and drive large trucks when needed
  • Participate in Agricultural meetings with upper management and take notes during the meeting
  • Participate in culinary meetings with the culinary team to align on a harvest schedule and ensure the kitchen’s needs are met
  • Identify key moments to obtain approvals from the Farm Director


Guest Programming

  • Attend and support bi-weekly Farm Tours for guests and lead them from time to time when the Farm Director is unavailable
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to speak with guests about sustainable farming and The Grange in a friendly manner and answer any questions that may arise
  • Collaborate with The Farm Director and Director of Experiences on unforgettable guest experiences as they relate to the farm
  • Work with the Director of Experiences, Farm Director, and Executive Chef on any special farm-to-table dinners


Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of Farming/Agriculture experience
  • Self-motivated, cooperative, and flexible
  • Experience working outside in a physically demanding role with the ability to repeatedly lift 50lbs
  • Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and comfortable driving large cube trucks if needed
  • Full availability, including weekend and special event hours required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Farm/Culinary Event Programming experience
  • Experience growing ingredients for a fine dining restaurant
  • Experience teaching people how to farm
  • Hospitality experience
  • Fluent in English and Spanish
