Project Manager

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking to recruit a competent Project Manager as a member of Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team responsible for the construction and completions delivery of KNPC’s Gas Train 5 Project in Kuwait.


  • Assigned permanently to the project as the key member of Wood’s Fifth Gas Train PMC team
  • Project management and co - ordination of the work in the EPC Contractor’s Home Office, Kuwait Site and Wood’s Home Offices to maximize the effectiveness of project delivery to time, budget and quality objectives
  • Progress, monitor, review and approve key engineering, procurement and construction documentation, installation and completion of the work
  • Liaise and correspond with the EPC Contractor, on behalf of KNPC
  • Create and sustain a good team spirit within the Wood project team and KNPC
  • Provide leadership, guidance and direction concerning all facets of the project and its delivery
  • Interface with KNPC assigned personnel and the EPC Contractor for formal and informal reviews on technical and non-commercial matters with respect to project delivery
  • Provide project management guidance and direction as may be required
  • Ensure that key reports carry out their duties and responsibilities in line with their job descriptions and ensure an effective organisation of project management consultancy personnel
  • Lead the reviews and monitor the performance of critical engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities performed by the EPC Contractor
  • Lead the monitoring and review of design, procurement and construction documentation originated by the EPC Contractor
  • Liaise directly with KNPC and the EPC Contractor for review / approval of critical documents
  • Participate in key KNPC and EPC Contractor reviews and meetings as required
  • Participate in monthly progress reviews with KNPC and the EPC Contractor
  • Monitor, appraise and report to KNPC on quality and safety aspects of engineering, design and construction performed by the EPC Contractor and their Subcontractors / Vendors
  • Provide HSSE leadership and awareness by ensuring that all Wood and KNPC requirements are implemented and followed including safe delivery of the work
  • Ensure quality assurance system compliance and conduct periodic reviews
  • Recruit supporting and lead personnel as required for the PMC positions
  • Prepare monthly KNPC and Wood project progress reports and presentations
Skills / Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 15 years’ post - graduation relevant industrial experience
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in the refinery, petrochemical and LNG industries
  • Functional management, leadership and teambuilding skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • HSE awareness and commitment
  • Prior PMC experience an asset
  • Prior Middle East experience an asset
