Lock Desk Manager

Job Summary:

The Locks Desk Manager will oversee all aspects of the Amres Secondary Lock Desk, including management of Lock Desk staff, policies, and procedures in compliance with regulatory, corporate, agency, and Investor guidelines.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Lock Desk team, assigning work, monitoring productivity, formulating performance standards, and conducting evaluations.
  • Manages pipeline activity to ensure accurate hedge coverage.
  • Direct and develop the company toward retained servicing and securitization.
  • Act as an escalation point for lock desk analyst(s) on advanced or complicated deals.
  • Offer recommendations and work collaboratively to continuously improve work processes and system configurations to enhance efficiency.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and meticulous data input of lock information into our LOS (Byte Pro) database, including trade and pricing information related to the sale of mortgage loans.
  • Process lock requests with investors as needed, monitor/maintain accuracy of locked loan pipeline and process re-locks, lock changes and lock extension requests as needed, in a timely, accurate and professional manner.
  • Learn, dissect, interpret, and report back on thoughts and opinions on successes and failures in the hedging and product profitability being managed with and without MCT.
  • Analyze market conditions and formulate strategies to achieve best executing and margin gain.
  • Implement and monitor enforcement of pricing methodologies from a compliance and margin perspective for all responsible areas.
  • Proactive, energetic, and eager to learn non-QM bulk and mandatory delivery.
  • Ensure daily price setting and activity meet predetermined margin targets and goals.
  • Develop and implement new capital markets relationships with warehouse line lenders and loan investors, as well as manage the on-going pipeline of loan funding, loan sales, and hedging activity.
  • Review back-end investor mapping and profitability in our agency overlaid Amres product lines.
  • Onboard new investor relationships and promptly and accurately complete annual investor re-certifications
  • Eventually support and/or manage the development of Amres’s own independent agency product pricing.
  • Assists with processing incoming lock, COC, extension and reprice requests in Optimal Blue pricing engine and Byte LOS and responds to escalated pricing and lock issues and questions.
  • Ensure daily pricing and margins are accurate and that all best-efforts loans are locked on investor websites in a timely fashion to prevent loss of margin due to intraday market movements.
  • Facilitate execution of loan sales and trading of MBS securities in coordination with hedging firm.
  • Acquire and maintain the required knowledge of State and Federal Banking regulations and policies and those regulations and policies inherent to position requirements, including, but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act. This is accomplished through the completion of online compliance training courses as assigned and within the time frame designated.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years Secondary Marketing experience required on a Lock Desk and/or Mortgage-Backed Securities
  • Experience managing a team, either as a supervisor or Team Leader.
  • Experience working with Byte and Optimal Blue preferred.
  • Understanding of interest rate dynamics and MBS pooling.
  • Mortgage Compliance knowledge is a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must have intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with sales and operations staff, as well as investor contacts.
  • Mathematical skills including problem solving.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
