ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The responsibility of the Manual Tester is to use standard testing methods to prove the following:
    • Ensure hardware & software meets the desired functional needs of end user requirements.
    • Design and manipulate test data to validate stored procedures, jobs, triggers and replication.
    • Identify and document all known defects/issues.
    • Call attention to high or showstopper level defects.
    • Confirm software usability is satisfactory for end user operations.
    • Communicate with business analysts and developers to understand scope and explain test results.
    • Prioritize and manage work load to allow for simultaneous involvement with multiple teams and projects.
  • Quickly gain a thorough understanding of project requirements and objectives.
  • Identify, execute, and manage test cases.
  • Work with business analysts to understand the requirements for ongoing software development projects, and sometimes help with the creation of software requirements documentation.
  • Conduct user-acceptance testing as software is completed, working in tandem with the development team and appropriate business owners of the product.
  • Test applications for visual and functional accuracy on multiple browsers, operating systems and devices.
  • Utilize SQL knowledge to design and manipulate test data for validating stored procedures, jobs, triggers and replication.
  • Document and report defects/bugs and work effectively with the development team to troubleshoot/determine the resolution.
  • Work independently and efficiently to meet agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Perform regression testing on existing software.
  • Communicate with engineers on developmental software to help identify weaknesses and solutions.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, JOB SKILLS

  • 2-4 years of software QA Testing, or other related technical experience.
  • Some courses in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Information Systems/Technology, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Troubleshooting and problem diagnosis skills while being detail-oriented.
  • Familiarity with regression and general testing protocols.
  • Polished verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organization and record-keeping skills.
  • Experience in teamwork and individual accountability.
  • Humility to listen and follow instructions, and confidence to learn and ask questions.
  • Familiarity with the Agile software development preferred.
  • Willingness to learn Linux operating system and proprietary software installation and diagnostics.
