The Nurse Manager (NM) functions as the first-line administrative nursing leader, with 24-hour accountability for care delivery including budget of a nursing unit(s). The Nurse Manager must be able to navigate proficiently within the EHR. He/She must be able to clinically assist with patient care and be able to function in the charge role if indicated. The Nurse Manager coordinates, elevates and resolves problems and conflicts as they occur. With support from Charge Nurses and Educators, the Nurse Manager directly supervises the clinical nursing and ancillary nursing personnel assigned to a unit or care delivery site. He/she ensures the effective daily operation of the nursing unit on 24-7 basis by monitoring all activities necessary to provide consistent high quality patient care, including staffing, equipment, supplies and services. In this role , the Nurse Manager will coordinate the activities of nursing staff, is accountable for the effective and efficient operation of the unit and staff including stat orders, treatments, plans of care, and clinical pathways are being carried out in a consistent manner. 


  • A degree in Nursing (either BSN or MSN). Preferred: A Master’s Degree (Nursing or other if possessing a BSN) within five years of hire 
  • Three to five years as a RN, preferably in an acute care setting. Preferred: Two years nursing leadership experience. At minimum one year direct supervision of healthcare delivery if in combination with leadership experience outside of nursing (i.e. second career
  • Professional organization membership within one month of hire into the role..
