Product Manager

Sunbelt’s SmartEquip Product Manager is equipped for success so we can make it happen for our customers.

SmartEquip Product Manager is empowered to drive the management, strategy, objectives, roadmap, maintenance, projects and overall success of the SmartEquip procurement platform.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead individuals to successfully execute Sunbelt’s SmartEquip platform utilization and strategies
  • Sets business strategy related to operational products to drive business outcomes
  • Leads executive and senior leaders through strategy creation sessions and identifies paths to execution related to SmartEquip objectives
  • Represent our employees/users and has the primary responsibility for defining all product requirements and communicating those requirements to the user experience and technology delivery teams
  • Manages the priority of those requirements to ensure that the highest amount of business value is being delivered in the fastest time possible
  • Uses data and analytics to analyze their business and prioritize their product backlog appropriately. Attends all business reviews, supplying product/feature results as necessary and provide input into business cases when new products/features are being developed.
  • Represents the business, employee and customer needs and requirements to drive feature implementation and development with associated technology teams
  • Clearly define and write user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Manages supplier contract relations and negotiations to better enable future development and improved user experience
  • Reviews and approves all requirements based on product/feature strategy
  • Maintains a prioritized product backlog based on defined business value, aligning with Product Strategy and resource capacity
  • Provides UX/UI approval for the assigned product
  • Uses analytics to monitor product KPIs and ensure success metrics are being met, identifies opportunities for testing and product enhancements based on results
  • Align efforts across program and product teams, prioritizing as necessary, and driving/facilitating execution to maintain focus and appropriate momentum
  • Build and leverage solid working relationships with business and product stakeholders, other Product Managers, user experience and technology teams to facilitate successful feature implementation
  • Develop and maintain all training and support materials
  • Ensures the platform captures all pertinent data and delivers product information in a clear and concise manner to end-users
  • Leads user acceptance testing, product pilots, and implementations


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, IT, or a related field of study or equivalent experience plus 5-7 years of experience within construction or equipment rental industry
  • Exceptional collaboration, listening, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop process maps, persuasive/communicative PowerPoint decks, and project plans
  • Demonstrated experience with project and product management
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams with and without direct report relationships
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of customer experience and process improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and collaboration through effective change management
  • Preferred knowledge of Wynne Rentalman and/or SmartEquip Inc.
