Overview: Role

As Ranch Manager you will lead and manage the daily operations and maintenance of the Ranch. The operations include the maintenance, management, development and coordination of agricultural, riparian, conservation and recreational/hospitality programs. The Ranch Manager will lead the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs, and will create the strategy and operational procedures for the Ranch to maintain its excellence in stewardship year after year.

Ideally, you have strong experience in management and land stewardship. You are self-driven and an excellent communicator with the ability to work across multiple departments and develop strong relationships. You have a passion for the outdoors and creating an environment of hospitality and generosity in every interaction.



  • Initially provide trusted and understated hospitality services to ranch owner and guests.
  • Ensure the privacy of the ranch owners and guests is always maintained. Thoughtful clear communication is a must, while maintaining a high level of appropriate discretion.
  • Ensure the exclusive nature of the ranch and as programming expands to welcome additional guests, develop and implement the policies to ensure the security, privacy, and memorable experiences are delivered in a way that is elevated, authentic and understated.
  • Work closely with the Collective management team and representatives for reporting, accounting, ongoing management, people and culture issues, and guest programming

Ranch Maintenance

  • Manage water rights and government affairs with state of Colorado, the city and county of Boulder and the United States Forest Service. This includes daily monitoring and recording of water flows, water diversion management, working with local and state agencies for compliance and notice requirements and monitoring creeks for ecological health
  • Coordinate with agricultural lessee(s), tenants, partners and supervise contractors and other ranch employees as needed
  • Manage agricultural operations on the Ranch, including day-to-day communication with the grazing lessee, development of and adherence with a grazing plan and maintenance of infrastructure including fences, roads and equipment on the ranch
  • Help support renovations of historic buildings on the property and maintain all Ranch structures
  • Support the vision of creating and maintaining trail systems on the Ranch
  • Work with local, state and federal agency partners, contractors and researchers to ensure that environmental values, such as wildlife, forests, wetlands and streams, remain natural and healthy. This includes interacting with and representing the principals on issues such as water rights, conservation easements, access easements, zoning and code renovation matters, noxious weed management, fire mitigation and forest planning
  • Manage livestock grazing operations, fisheries, agriculture and forest with consideration toward maintaining or improving the environmental condition of the Ranch
  • Maintain equipment in good working order and ensure that all Ranch equipment is under cover when not in use, including ranch vehicles, earth moving equipment, ATVs, UTVs and assorted heavy machinery
  • Inspect and maintain ranch structures and infrastructures including Ranch buildings and roads
  • Maintain Ranch trails and bike paths
  • Maintain structures in good repair and manage interior, exterior and perimeter appearance
  • Provide security and daily presence on property
  • Keep inventory and stock of Ranch consumables
  • Assist in development and execution of Ranch programming
  • Oversee Ranch utilities (propane, gas and electrical)
  • Adapt to ever changing Ranch environment
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions


  • The Ranch Manager is required to live on the property year-round and is responsible for ensuring that all facilities, grounds and equipment are well maintained, clean and well organized
  • Obtain all needed approvals and keep appropriate records for all Ranch activities as required by laws and regulations
  • Submit expense reports/receipts monthly
  • Manage and complete diverse tasks independently with respect to timelines and budgets
  • Prioritize and communicate on important matters in a timely fashion
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for maintenance/repairs, purchase of equipment/tools, manage maintenance schedules and records for buildings, infrastructure, grounds, fencing, roads, vehicles and equipment.
  • Manage the Assistant Ranch Manager
  • Work hours may vary with possible evening, weekend, or holiday work required depending on the season and associated work duties.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years experience in similar position
  • Strong knowledge of of maintenance, land stewardship, water management
  • Some past experience in engineering, construction, and/or land development
  • Willingness to learn, be open to change, and develop new skills
  • Prior experience in managing guest experiences at upscale locations

Requirements for Employment:

  • Fluent in English
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Must be available to work variable shifts on both weekdays and weekends
  • Must be willing to work in an outdoor setting, including all-weather conditions (rain, wind, heat, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of team members in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by Ranch management. .
  • Able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 40lbs pounds of force constantly to life, push, move or carry objects

Compensation & Perks:

  • Salary Range: $75,000 to $90,000 based on experience
  • Housing provided on the Ranch
