- Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

There are billions of packages shipped with different origin and destination nodes, different modes of transportation, and different schedules. This results in a highly dense transportation network model with multiple origin, intermediate and destination nodes, with paths between them representing possible routes for packages, and with different costs, carriers, times as attributes of each path. Network Operations team at Amazon plans, designs and runs this network to meet business targets of maximized shipments, minimized costs and carbon emissions, and improved speed and delivery accuracy to our customers.
Global Transportation Tech Services (GTTS) is responsible for creating a product portfolio that enables these network owners to monitor and manage their network better, with improved efficiency of day-to-day operations. In 2021, GTTS product suite generated incremental savings of $201M across NA & EU. These systems are used across NA & EU, by all transportation network operators. Our vision is to create comprehensive transportation network analytics, recommendation and management platform that helps teams track root cause that impact their network, troubleshoot faster and provides information needed to make better network decisions.
As part of the team, you will be able to build strong tech and business domain expertise in Logistics, and Transportation. We are a startup within Amazon, developing our next generation product suite and our roadmap has hard technical problems like Network modeling for current and future changes, Deep insights into network metrics by anomaly detection, classification, and prioritisation, simulation of impact, recommendation on action items, and auto-resolutions. We have a unique mix of large-scale machine learning problems, backend suite to automate and simplify actions, data engineering problems to model and monitor the network and frontend problems to improve the experience of our network operations team globally.

Network Monitoring team builds tools to allow Operators to measure and compare real-time capacity, asset utilisations and financial cost drivers. Our systems evaluates >600MM route combinations to assess capacity risks every 2 hours, improving visibility into network constraints for all weekly planning activities.
Network Capacity Planning team enables operators to execute transportation plans to maximize resource planning (trucks, labour) and volume assigned to each carrier. In 2021, 65MM caps were applied with zero human touches for effective utilisation of resources.
Network Topology team owns global solution to manage network intents and deploy network changes by translating business intents to change configurations. Our systems allow planning and sequencing of network changes, simulating impact of these changes on speed, cost, volume, and deploying network changes (150K network changes in 2021) to downstream systems by validating against operational constraints.
In addition, we have some core technology systems including data lake (>200TB of data storage, 3 TB data processed daily), Algo lake (Automated deployment of machine learning models, presented at AWS Reinvent in Vegas), and Data orchestration system processing 900+ jobs daily.

- Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
- Experience with development using AWS Technologies
