Do you like the idea of seeing how your work directly impacts frontline associates and overall the bigger picture? Answer yes to any of these and you’ll fit right in here at PXT Solutions Tech.
As a PXT Solutions Software Development Manager (SDM), you’ll collaborate with Tech, Product, Program, and lead the tech team and tech vision, strategy to design and build innovative products with a team of TPMs, SDEs, PMTs, Program Managers, and BIEs. To succeed in this role, you listen to associates, define our tech and product vision and success measures; and partner with a team of senior developers to experiment and deliver iteratively. You will work across software teams to influence our roadmap priorities, drive product feature decisions, and manage the engineering process. You will take the lead on initiatives that are critical to transitioning our technology from early-stage tech development to a robust production system. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a product. A key superpower for a SW SDM must be to work with a product’s various Product Managers and Development Managers to ensure that there are adequate mechanisms are in place to report and escalate dependencies between teams.
SDMs need to not only excel in operating at a strategic level but also need to understand when to dive deep to keep the project on track. Specifically, SDMs must collaborate with multiple partners across org, make sure the team is challenged, motivated, having fun and there is a significant career progression in the team. An SDM should set the bar on the ability to discover the true tech requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines. Along with that, they need to clearly and concisely communicate, both verbally and in writing, with senior management on status, risks, and required mitigations to maintain project commitments.
SDMs partner with TPMs and are expected to support the team in making appropriate trade-offs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.

You are able to find the best way forward and influence others to follow that path (build consensus) when confronted with discordant views. You partner with customers and engineering teams to determine which projects move forward and in what priority order, use your technical judgment to question proposals and test assumptions and enlist Senior/Principal Engineer to ensure architecture(s) scale (or will scale) to match the “think big” business case. You have a demonstrable track record of success delivering high quality products and services. You are able to see the problem from the vantage points of a variety of stakeholders, assimilate these to arrive at a solution, and then drive consensus.
