Working within the framework of the philosophy and objectives set forth by the Director of the Transplant Programs, the Transplant Nurse Coordinator is accountable for the supervision, monitoring, and evaluation of the transplant program staff. The Transplant Nurse Coordinator requires an advanced level of expertise and overall understanding of organ transplantation. Utilizing a wide range of alternatives in problem-solving situations demonstrates a high degree of professional competence and skill.

The Transplant Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of interdisciplinary medical care delivery system under the direction of the Medical Director, assessment of appropriate medical intervention for effective use of resources, and quality assurance. Additional responsibilities include assessing and monitoring medical case management protocols to maintain effective long-term patient management, educational materials, and programs for patients, nursing staff, and physicians.

The Transplant Nurse Coordinator will develop clinical protocols and policies, and procedures. Community education and public relations. Transplant donor/recipient coordination and liaison function with organ procurement agencies. The Transplant Nurse Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Transplantation Services. The Transplant Program Medical Directors supervise clinical functions.
