Systems Project Engineer

Working as a Systems Project Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the engineering systems with new product offerings based on R&D designs and customer needs for electrical equipment in Electrification Distribution Solutions, US.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager II, you will work with Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Product Managers, and Manufacturing, within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts, & resolve issues.

Your responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance mechanical configurator code and tables for various product lines
  • Maintain and enhance electrical CAD tools for various product lines
  • Interact with Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, and SAP team members to troubleshoot and drive timely resolution to system related issues
  • Develop user requirements, specifications, and structure for improving various applications, including, but not limited to Rulestream, HiRes, ePLAN, WinchChill, and/or SAP
  • Design, code, test and implement new programs using various languages such as Visual Basic (VBA and VB.NET) and C#, using structured programming techniques
  • Plan, organize, lead, and execute multiple small and large projects simultaneously while meeting target delivery dates
  • Setup, maintain, and train users on engineering systems
  • Some evenings and weekends may be required as part of production problem resolution, programming and inventory support
  • Promote open communication and maintain effective working relationships
  • Perform other duties within Engineering Systems as directed

Your background

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited college or university with 2 years of equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Rulestream, HiRes, ePLAN, WinchChill, and/or SAP.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and database management.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Visual Basic (VBA and VB.NET), C#, and other software applications.
  • Experience with switchboard/switchgear (SWBD/SWGR) products or motor control centers (MCC).
  • Understanding of mechanical design and assembly.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, or as part of a team.
  • Ability to welcome change and work in fast paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Project management skills with ability to plan, execute & document programs/projects.
  • Willingness to support off-shift manufacturing teams.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
