Clinic Administrative Manager

  • **OPEN TO PERMANENT INCUMBENT IN THE CIVIL SERVICE TITLE OF HEALTH SERVICES MANAGER.

    The mission of the Bureau of Tuberculosis Control is to prevent the spread of tuberculosis and to eliminate it as a public health problem in New York City. The goals to achieve this mission are twofold: 1) To identify all individuals with suspected or confirmed TB disease and ensure appropriate treatment; 2) ensure that individuals at high risk for progression from TB infection to TB disease are identified and treated for TB infection and do not develop TB disease.

    DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • Responsible for the overall administrative operation of the center including but not limited to continuity of chest center services; billing data collection services; requisitioning and resource management; MIS/IT management.

  • Assist with the development and/or implementation of protocols and procedures to enhance the performance of patient care activities and general operations to ensure Bureau goals and objectives are met.

  • Supervise Principal Administrative Associates and X-ray Technologists and other assigned staff.

  • Oversee chest center's information systems; analyzes and take action on data related to productivity and efficiency.

  • Prepare and present or submit narrative, statistical and other reports to Network Director.

  • Organize, enforce and maintain effective chest center opening and closing process.

  • Act as liaison with various bureau and DOHMH offices to ensure continuity of patient care.

  • Participate as an active member of the networks and chest center management teams.

  • Assist with special administrative tasks and projects whenever necessary to facilitate patient care.

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and five years of full-time professional satisfactory experience acquired within the last fifteen years, in a health services setting such as a laboratory, hospital, or other patient care facility, or in a public health, environmental health, or mental hygiene program, at least 18 months of which must have been in a managerial capacity, consisting of managerial experience clearly demonstrating the ability to perform difficult and responsible managerial work, requiring independent decision-making concerning program management, planning, allocation of resources, and the scheduling and assignment of work.

2. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. Education may be substituted for experience on the basis that each 30 graduate semester credits from an accredited college in hospital administration, public health, public administration, business administration, management or administration can be substituted for one year of non-managerial experience up to a maximum of 60 semester credits for two years. However, all candidates must have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree and 18 months of managerial experience as described in "1" above.

  • -Extensive management experience in public settings

  • -Strong oral and written communication skills
  • -Computer experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.
