Female Juvenile Detention Officer


This position is located at the Ward County Juvenile Detention Center, which is housed within the Ward County Juvenile Detention. Duties at this level are performed independently with less supervision and incumbents are considered fully functioning detention officers. This job description is not a contract and is subject to change.

A Juvenile Detention Officer shall perform duties associated with security, care, custody and control of juveniles in the detention facility.

Hours assigned to this position will be 8:00 pm -8:00 am. This position will be 14 shifts a month.
Applicants must be willing to work a combination of shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

High School Diploma or GED and 12 months experience requiring interaction and/or service to the public. Basic computer knowledge. Effective communication skills including verbal and writing. Must be able to work under pressure and in stressful situations.

Special Requirements

Applicants must successfully complete a psychological examination and the Basic Correctional Officer Training. Applicants must possess a valid ND driver's license and pass an extensive background check.
